How to Spend 1 Month in Japan (The Ultimate Guide)

Japan is a country full of contrasts, from bustling cities to peaceful nature escapes. Over the course of 31 days, we explored everything from vibrant food scenes to tranquil temples, hiking trails, and historical landmarks. Here’s a breakdown of our exact route, including what we did (and what we highly recommend you don’t miss), where we stayed, and how much we spent for each city. At the end, we’ll share the total cost for the country.

Since we used IC cards for public transportation in several cities and took a few shinkansens and domestic flights between cities, we’ve included the total transportation cost only in our overall expenses at the end, rather than breaking it down by city. We’ve also included the cost of personal souvenirs/essentials and SIM cards in the final total. Keep in mind, the amount you spend on personal souvenirs/essentials will depend on you!
